Created for Barcelona’s Louis Vuitton Maison opening, The Giant Salamander was designed to pay tribute to the great architect Gaudi and his Salamander in the Park Güell. Louis Vuitton challenged me to create the Salamander using only real leather goods. When this collaboration started in 2010 it would have been near impossible to create such a wonderfully colourful beast, but in the years that followed, the collection has grown so that I was able to produce such a vibrant creature, I hope it to be the beginning of a new breed of Louis Vuitton animal.
